How can the default for notifications be set to always "Notify me when a reply is posted" when I'm starting a topic or replying to a topic.

On almost all internet forums it's customary to automatically default to such notifications when one posts a message or a reply, and let the user un-check that notification box if they prefer. Here it seems the other way around, and I'm very prone to overlooking the need here to manually check that box.

Thanks,

Craig

Hi Craig

The only settings default we have is to set Subscriptions.
You can do this by clicking on the User Control Panel in the upper right.
Click on "Manage Subscriptions" and you can choose the forums you want to be notified when there is a post or a reply.

To set notification on specific postings:
When you are posting a new post or a reply, under the message box are are boxed "Options". You can tick off the "Notifiy me when a reply is posted" and you will be notified when that specific post or topic has a reply.

Hope that helps,
KatieB

Then I'd like to suggest a change in the default system-wide setting of the "Notify me when a reply is posted" checkbox when a person starts a discussion or replies to one. Right now it only does that if the person had previously set that checkbox in a particular discussion. The change would probably be a one-number change in the template for those things or to a system settings attribute.

Thanks,

Craig
