I hope this works. Jan (jang) and I got to see these guys play this song live in Austin. It is an amazing song about survivorship. It was the grand finale to the 3-day LiveSTRONG summit and as they played this for us live, we were all in tears.

or this one

Lyrics:

Maybe Tonight, Maybe Tomorrow Lyrics

I heard the news today. It came out of nowhere.
I wish I could run away,
but where would I go?
Is this my destiny? Something so unfair... What will become of me?
God only knows.

And they say the road to heaven might lead us back through hell.
Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow, we will win this fight and bury this sorrow.
We're so alive, still holding on, not ready to die, so we LIVESTRONG.

My pride is left for dead, as my world gets shaken.
The thoughts inside my head are so hard to control.
I am staring down the unknown, but one thing is certain.
You could break my body, but you will never break my soul.

And they say the road to heaven might leads us back through hell, but we're holding on for more
than stories to tell.

Maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow, we will win this fight and bury this sorrow.
We're so alive, still holding on, not ready to die, so we LIVESTRONG.

I wish I hadn't listened to it. I can't stop crying now.
But it really was very beautiful.

Tears are flowing. My world is shaken indeed. But I will go on. Today -- tomorrow. I have worn the yellow Livestrong bracelet all four years Lucie was fighting LC and I will continue to do so for a time. Maybe today -- maybe tomorrow -- the pain will lessen. Don

I haven't been able to get this song out of my head from the moment I heard the band sing it.

It's been out since May- it's debut was at the LiveSTRONG Gala held then. This band has a dear friend who was dx. with cancer, and this song was written for him and given to LAF.

The band came and played it live for us all at the LiveSTRONG summit during closing ceremonies yesterday afternoon and there wasn't a dry eye.

It was awesome. I thought of each and every one of you and wished you were with me.

I listened to the song. It helped me feel some empathy for the people who have suffered a lot more than me from this disease. I think many others here have suffered a lot more than me... but if you add up all the stuff I have gone through in the last 3 years, it looks like a lot. I am still alive and living.

Thanks Katie

Sorry it has taken me a while to post. I just got home last night, and then with Halloween, I've been a little busy. It was GREAT getting to finally meet Katie. We had such a great time and met so many great people. (And don't believe everything she says about me) :-) The whole summit was very inspirational. There were a lot of tears, but also a lot of promise. To see hundreds of other people there fighting for the same thing that we are fighting for was amazing. I can't wait to get started. I've already started writing to all the media in my local area about LC Awareness month. I want to see some publicity.

I will post a link to my pictures as soon I can figure it out! :D (And Katie I promised not to post any pictures that might embarrass us)

4/10 - Follow up with surgeon - Still Cancer Free!
4/11 - Follow up with surgeon - Still Cancer Free!!
4/12 - Follow up with surgeon - Still Cancer Free!!!

2007 GRAND PRIZE WINNER
INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION
Maybe Tonight, Maybe Tomorrow
Scott Leger
Austin, TX, USA

Upon learning of a friend’s cancer diagnosis,
Scott wrote this song both as a personal coping mechanism and
as a way to honor cancer survivors across the world.
According to Leger, the song is dedicated not only to his friend
but also to the millions of people affected by cancer.
His hope is that the song will encourage people everywhere
to live life to its fullest,
whether they are dealing with cancer or any other challenge.
The song was debuted at the
Lance Armstrong Foundation Gala
in front of a room full of VIP's
including former President Bill Clinton.
In addition to its lyrical content,
the song's memorable chorus and strong pop sensibility
resonated with the ISC judges,
culminating in it being awarded this year's Grand Prize.

David (58 years old)

09/06/06 – Visit family doctor complaining of strong upper left back pain and frequent night sweats. Sent for X-Rays. Results show a mass in the apex of the right lung. Referred to a Respirologist/Internist
09/14/06 – Ultrasound guided needle biopsy of the lung. Results will show Adenocarcinoma of the lung. CT scan will show a 4 – 5 cm mass in the right lung. No other areas appear compromised, except maybe for the rib the tumor is latched to. Appointment made with the surgeon for a lymph node biopsy. Appointment made for a bone scan.
09/20/06 – Bone scan. Results will come back ok.
10/06/06 – David goes under: Mediastinoscopy and bronchoscopy done. Results from biopsy will show lymph nodes clear, bronchia clear. The lung wall appears intact; the cancer has not spread outside of the lung. Treatment proposed: concurrent radiation/chemo therapy for 25 days. Daily radiation. Combination of Cis-Platin and VP-16. Type of tumor: Pancostal tumor.
10/31/06 – Blood work reveals acute anemia. Receives 2 units of blood and the doctor performs a bone marrow biopsy to ensure cancer has not spread to the bone. Results will come back clean.
11/13/06 to 12/18/06 – Radiation/chemo treatment. No major reactions to either except for hair loss, tiredness/complete lack of energy, alarming weight loss –went from 80kg to 65kg-
12/29/06 – CT scan, X-Rays. Results will come back showing a reduction of the size of the tumor from 5cm to approx 1.5cm. All other areas appear clean. Approved as a candidate for surgery.
1/22/07 – After gaining back 5 kilos, David goes under for his lobectomy. Surgery is a success; tumor appears well contained within the lung. All lymph nodes removed during surgery are clear.
2/27/07 - Starts “clean-upâ€

3/16/06 DX Mass and/or adenopathy within the right hilum..consistent with bronchogenic carcinoma. May also be subcarinal adenopathy. Small right pleural effusion.
3/17/06 MRI head with/out contrast. Biopsi-lung, right middle lobe bronchus. Small Cell Carcinoma of the right lung with SVC syndrome
3/21/06 Bone scan. No evidence for skeletal metastases
3/21/06 Etoposide and Carboplatin chemotherapy (3 days)
4/12/06 Chest XRay - Obvious shrinking of tumor
4/12/06 Etoposide and Carboplatin (3 days)
5/2/06 CScan - again, obvious shrinking of tumor
5/5/06 Meet with Radiologist to determine radiology plan
5/9/06 Day one of Radiation
5/10/06 Chemo (?) (3 days)
6/4/06 In the middle of radiation, going EXTREMELY well, aside from sore eating, and tired, tired, tired. Dad is hopeful, sure that he is coughing up tumor every day, and spirited. Thank you God!
6/18/06 Went into local hospital for infusion. Chest X for possible pneumonia.
6/20/-6 Went to local hospital for infustion. DX with pneumonia in both lungs. O2 levels low, and irregular heart beat. He does not feel heart beating 140 and above. Meds for regulation not working. Made it to Mayo 6/25...back in the hands of the amazing!
6/29 Radiation Graduation! Dad is now home, and regaining strength every day. He is tired, tired, tired, but again, getting stronger every day. Will return to Mayo on 7/30 for all new tests.
7/30 "There is nothing in your noggin but a brain, Keith!" Amazing words to hear! "I would give your chest a clean bill."
8/1 "Keith, you are in remission." We don't consider a cure until you are clear for five years.
8/7 Began 15 rounds PCI brain radiation treatments. This was a difficult decision to make as we were given the side affects, and quite honestly it does sound scary. However, most all SCLC survivors appear to have some form of brain radiation at some time throughout their treatments. Dad figures that mom does the money books, organizes the meds, and keeps the house going already, so what the heck. "I don't want to die from cancer," he says!

August 25, 2006 Mom and Dad return after PCI. Dad feels great, has a tan, bald head, and got out onto the boat on day 1 of his return! Thank you God!

11/29/06 3 month Check Up...Still in remission. Lung scarring from radiation occuring. Dad feels great. Depression and low activity are going away!

2/25/07 Another check up shows no progression...however a slight pleural effusion that has grown since November. Could be one of three things...1. Infection 2. Scar Tissue 3. Cancer. Must go back to Mayo next week to have it drained and checked.

3/1/07 Drained pleural effusion yesterday. However, when they got in there, there wasn't enough fluid to drain and check...this means it probably wasn't cancer, and more than likely was the tail end of some kind of infection. She decides she wants him back in two months instead of three, just to be safe. Heart doc gives dad the clean bill of health. Go home, enjoy life!

5/11/07 Dad had a standard chest CT, which showed nothing new. He feels great and again was given a clean bill! Yeah! Doc will do a "big" check-up in August...complete with chest CT, bone scan, and brain scan...all because at that point he will be one year in remission! Yeah...I pray every day for these years to be granted!
8/21/07 Dad had a full body scan yesterday and results today were very "boring!" We LOVE boring. There was one nodule, in the lung area, that she could see, but it is smaller than small, and leaves no reason to be concerned. Dad will return for a check-up after Christmas. When mom said, "So, do we not need to be worried anymore" she answered with, "Your new normal will be that you are always worried." Yuck...but oh so true. Thank you God for the gift of healing, and may you continue with that wonderful gift. I pray in thanksgiving.

1/21/08 "I am going to call you my miracle man! Keith, I still don't see any evidence of cancer in your body." Wow! Blessed again!

5/19/08 "Keith there is no change. I see no evidence of any cancer." Wow! We are so blessed to be given another clean report. "Every day is a gift," my dad said. Isn't that the truth!

Sept. 08 Still Cancer Free

4/8/09 All evidence of the small cell is still gone. She believes Dad is cured. However, a dot on the CT almost a year ago has turned into an eraser sizes spot. This could just be a product of his recent bronchitis or could be when he breathed during the scan. She DOES NOT think we have anything to worry about. Scans will be in 3 months now, instead of 6 months...I am happy for that!

7/20/09 CT shows growth in spot on opposite lung than original cancer. They do not want to leave it alone. Will have PET and surgical consult next week with the hopes for simple removal.

8/2009 Removed spot. Biopsy showed trace of NSCLC. No SCLC found.

11/2009 All clear
3/2010 All clear
7/2010 All clear
11/2010 All clear. We really are so very blessed to continue to be cancer free. Thank you God.
8/23/11 - Still clear. Thank God!

Katie,

Just checked in after a long time absent - hadn't heard the song before. Still wearing my livestrong bracelet for Ada - going on four years since she has been gone. Hope all is well with you.

Have been eyeballing this topic for a couple of days. I finally went in today and read the post but didn't copy the link and listen to the song. Hope it stays on the site for awhile because I'll get to it. It's just that I finally stopped crying (again) a couple of days ago. I feel good and am not ready to go there yet.

Fol 6 rounds Taxol/Carboplatin/Avastin and 2 Avastin, CT/PET 4/1/08 pleural thickening gone and no active cancer cells. 11/3/08 STILL NEVD. CT/PET/MRI 5/4/09 Cancer back, still in the pleura and chest wall, small amt of fluid, all in left lung.
5/11/09 Start on Alimta every three weeks.
7/13/10 Had Alimta on road in Corning NY.
8/24/09 Scans show some improvement. Continue on Alimta.
9/14/09 Chemo on road in Mt Holly NJ.
10/6/09 Started regular Alimta infusions in Key West.
11/3/09 CT and PET scans showed significant improvement. Some issues already resolved.
2/3/2010 No evidence of residual or recurrent disease. NED! Stay on Alimta.
5/6/10 Am considering myself still NED until/unless proven otherwise in July. Rabid radiologist thinks he sees something suggestive of similar to some abdominal cancer. No light up on the PET. Am hoping for the best. Stay on Alimta and scan in 9 wks instead of 3 mos.
7/8/10 Chest CT unchanged (NED Feb '10). Infiltration in the region of the omentum is probably slightly more prominent than before. Diverticulosis requiring antibiotics.
Jul, Aug, Sep, continued Alimta in Corning NY, Portsmouth OH and Mt Holly NJ.
10/14/10 Chest CT unchanged from Feb '10. Findings likely representing progressive nodular peritonal carcinomatosis in the midabdomen. Treatment changed to Tarceva started in Nov.
12/15/10 Chest CT unchanged. Abdomen changes compatible with peritoneal carcinomatosis again identified with mild progression noted.
3/16/11 CT chest unchanged. CT abdomen progression ascites (fluid). Progression of soft tissues nodularity on the peritoneal surface anteriorly with diffuse omental involvement.
4/13-15/11 Hospitalized at MDA. Removed 4 1/2 litres (8-9 lbs) of fluid from abdomen 4/14. Started on taxotere before release on 4/15.
5/16/11 Hospitalized for fever, neutropenic. Treated with intravenous antibiotic and antiviral. Given blood transfusion. Note that KW Cancer Center did not give me my Neulasta shot after my chemo on May 6. Onc had me cancel my 5/26 chemo until after my scan on Jun 6. Was discharged on oxygen. Test w/Dr Gerth 5/26 indicated I could go off sitting and sleeping O. Will do walking test 6/2.
6/2 Did not get requisite numbers on walking test. Left for Orlando 6/5 still on oxygen.
6/6/11 MRI normal; CT stable. Taxotere and Neulasta at MDA 6/7 and 6/8.
6/13/11 Appointment with Dr Olham in KW. Off oxygen week of 6/16.
8/8/11 CT scan showed stable with perhaps some lessening of fluid. Stay on Taxotere.
10/10/11 CT chest still clear, CT abdominal lining stable. Stay on taxotere.
12/19/11 CT chest clear, CT abdominal lining stable, MRI clear. Stay on taxotere.

Not that I needed anything to make me cry, but that sure helped flush the tear ducts. :) And appropriately enough for me to see this thread revived today, as I just finished signing up my team, Kelly's Posse (get it, my sister Kelly has a whole Posse behind her!) and of course signing myself up to ride in the 2008 Livestrong Challenge bike ride in Philly. Three of us rode last year and I'm aiming for a bigger team this year, as I think I have nephew and a couple nieces interested. It was a wonderful experience and definitely a real challenge!

Thanks for sharing the song and video, they are wonderful.

_________________
My sister Kelly was diagnosed with 3b NSCLC in May of 2007. A nodule on her adrenal gland has at times been thought to also be involved, but I, her surgeon, her radiation oncologist, and many oncologists I work with don't think it is. So we're going with that. She completed 5 rounds of carbo/taxol on a weekly schedule with concurrent radiation for 37 days. CT and PET showed nodes were clean but still residual activity in the tumor, which was reduced in size from 8x5 cm to 3x2cm. She attempted a lobectomy on 22 January 08 but the tumor resides a bit in the lower lobe in addition to the upper lobe, and the surgeon would not remove the entire left lung. She started Tarceva on 27 February 08. Her first scan showed decreased activity in the tumor and yet again, nothing new outside of that tumor. Her Dr. and I were actually kind of shocked! June '08 she had a total of 48 Gy of radiation via cyberknife. Her PET from 10 Sept '08 showed nothing new, the tumor size not really changed, but the SUV went down again, from 3.9 in May to 3.1, down from about 19 when this all started. She took a bit of a Tarceva holiday as we had some electrolyte issues due to not eating anything. She is currently back on it and taking 50 mg with tolerable toxicity. December '08 scan showed stable disease and yet again, less activity than before. April '09 scan actually said "area of hypermetabolic activity previously noted is not visualized today"! I could hardly believe my eyes and read it over and over. August and December '09 scans nearly identical! Now the June 2010 scan is just like the last ones - no uptake in the tumor, no new sites! Scan in January 2011 showed something on a rib on the contralateral side. Everyone in agreement that she broke a rib when she took a really bad fall a couple months ago. No one seems to think it is cancer, since the PET showed nothing in the lung or lymph nodes! Not moving to yearly scans yet though, so back in July! Our family really needed that good news as a month before we buried our 26 yr old nephew and are all still reeling from the shock and pain. July 2011 scan showed nothing new and she and the dr agreed to give her a drug break, so she went off Tarceva and so he wants to scan again in 3 months. There was a 3 mm nodule in the other lung and he didn't want to wait too long to scan given that and the no drug status. Scan in October of 2011 again showed nothing new, no growth, all is stable. The nodule in the other lung still listed as 2-3 mm. February 2012 scan was same as it ever was. :) Next scan is in August and she'll have gone one year without any treatment at that point. On May 19th it was 5 yrs from the day we heard she had lung cancer and we marked the occasion with a big party full of family and friends! She had a scan on Aug 24th and the results were more of the same, and marching orders from her oncologist that he doesn't need to see her for another year!

There is a very good quality recording of it here.

http://www.wideawake.com/www/wa_main.html

My daughter purchased it through the itunes link.

Just wanted to add that the proceeds benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Dad is 70 yrs old - was a light smoker for a few years and quit almost 40 years ago. He's also had diabetes for almost 40 years.

Jan 2007 - Visited ER with shortness of breath and mild chest/shoulder pain. X-rays showed spot on right lung.
Feb 2007 - Ultrasound, CT and PET scans show activity in lung and thyroid.
Feb 23 - Surgery to remove right middle lobe of lung. Diagnosed as NSCLC adenocarcinoma. Tumor invaded the visceral pleura and one of four lymph nodes examined was positive. Stage 2B or 3A. A rib was fractured during surgery for even more pain.
Mar 06 - Because of malignancy in lung, surgery to remove right lobe of thyroid. (Lit up on PET scan) Not cancerous!
Mar 22 - Meeting to discuss treatment. Starting chemo, Gemcitabine (Gemzar) and Cisplatin (Platinol) next week.
Mar 29 - Started chemo, day 1 and 8 with 15 days off. Plan is to do 4 cycles.
Apr 26 - Two cycles have been completed. Side effects have included hiccups, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue. Arm at infusion site became red and painful. White blood count was low - Neulasta injection given. Steroid anti-nausea medicine caused severe side effects.(extremely high blood sugar and mental turmoil)
May - Dad took chemo on the first day of cycle 3 and then decided he wanted to stop. Side-effects were too much. IVs were taking 1+ hours to get started each time. Fatigue, nausea, anxiety, blood sugar control problems,... Dr. had wanted at least 3, but prefered 4 cycles. *I'm a bit worried about this and wish he had tolerated the chemo better.
Jun 29 - CT scan was done. All clear!!
Oct 12 - CT scan; awaiting results. Check out clear.
March 14, 2008 CT scan; still clear!
2011-12 Elevated CEA; new (small) spots on lung. Keeping close watch.

They have that song on the livestrong site where you can make your own videos, with their pics/videos and your own pics and videos. I made one for our 2007 ride, though I didn't find it real user friendly, or else I really am that dumb. ;) I plan to find a program that will give me more flexibility, including saving it as a video which I can't do from this program. And this year I have to be more aware of getting some good pics and some videos of my own, which I didn't last year.

The link was too long and this was the only way I could get it clickable. :)

Randy: I'm so glad you're feeling better today but feel bad I didn't know you weren't! Been away for infusion and got out of touch, but please, tell a newcomer the history of "bump." Inquiring minds want to know!

Cytology report on fluid removed from lung after pleural effusion and pneumonia Sep 07 showed adenocarcinoma cells. Dx IIIb NSCLC Oct '07 at MDACC, Orlando.
Katie, I want to let you know that after I read the posts concerning "Emotions...," my eye caught the tag at the top of the page.

The Livestrong tape now plays softly in my mind - just beautiful.

My favorite line, I am staring down the unknown, but one thing is certain.

Thank you, Katie, for all of your warm and caring ways,
