The 2024 Hamoui Foundation/LUNGevity Clinical Research Award for RET-positive Lung Cancer is now open for application submissions.

The Hamoui Foundation/LUNGevity Clinical Research Award for RET-positive Lung Cancer supports high-impact research seeking to transform the future for people diagnosed with RET-positive lung cancer. Projects funded through this program are expected to have a direct impact on the outcomes of patients with advanced RET-positive lung cancer, but innovative proposals that address other unmet needs in the RET-positive lung cancer space are also invited for submission. Projects looking to understand psychosocial aspects of a RET-positive lung cancer diagnosis are not within the scope of the RFA. The program has no geographical restrictions and is open to both US and non-US applicants.

Award Guidelines

  • Applicants must hold a doctoral degree and faculty appointment (or equivalent) with an academic institution, including research institutions that are not formally associated with a university, and have completed a postdoctoral training fellowship.
  • Awards may be for a maximum of $500,000 ($250,000 per year for 2 years)
  • Annual milestones must be met

Note: LUNGevity will grant only one award per institution.

LUNGevity uses a two-step application process:

  1. A letter of intent (LOI), with a brief overview of the proposed project and biographical information
  2. A full application with an extended narrative about the project, as well as supporting information and documentation. (Because the number of awards is limited, only a subset of applicants will be invited to submit a full application after the LOI review is completed.)

Reviewers are drawn from LUNGevity's Scientific Advisory Board and other lung cancer experts. Awardees have progress and financial reporting obligations during their award term.

A complete description, terms and conditions, and instructions are included in the 2024 Hamoui Foundation/LUNGevity Clinical Research Award for RET-positive Lung Cancer RFA. All application materials must be submitted electronically via proposalCENTRAL.
