NCI Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD) Whitney Steward, PhD, is a Program Director in the Community Outreach Research and Engagement branch of NCI's CRCHD. She manages a multifaceted portfolio focused on enhancing clinical trial access and participation, supporting high-priority cancer research efforts, and engaging key stakeholders, including academic, scientific, and lay community members. (more ...) Before joining NCI, Dr. Steward completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University's Behavioral Genetics of Addiction Laboratory. There, she coordinated the multisite study MAPme, examining behavioral and genetic risks for substance use development in young adults. Previously, she worked as a Program Officer at NHLBI's Center for Translation Research and Implementation Science, supporting the integration of evidence-based genomic discoveries into clinical and public health settings. Dr. Steward completed her first postdoctoral fellowship at Children's National Health System, performing genetic profiling and developing fitness tracking apps for home monitoring of children with metabolic conditions. She received her PhD in Microbiology with a focus on cellular and molecular biology from Howard University.
