As a member of the lung cancer research, advocacy, and education space, we’re in a position to meet many dedicated and passionate individuals. While our day-to-day focus is on creating a better world for everyone affected by lung cancer, it’s the people we meet and connect with who are driving change and making real progress possible.
Thank you for choosing to support this community and use your time, energy, or finances to make a difference in the lives of others.
Caregivers and Care Partners
November is National Caregivers Month, so first we must recognize the family and friends who play such an important role offering help and support when it’s needed. We’re especially grateful to those who attend the monthly Caregiver Connection meetup group to share experiences and offer guidance to others.
Earlier this year we talked with former caregiver Tom Moser, who shared advice from his time caring for his wife Mary Lynn—who had both breast and lung cancer.
We also got to know Heather Magee, who joined the endurance athletes of Team LUNGevity to raise money and run for her mom, Lola Boyle.

Advocates
We’re coming to the end of November—Lung Cancer Awareness Month—and have seen so many people with lung cancer be open about their challenges and push for change. Whether it’s sharing the message that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer, dispelling common myths, encouraging others to get screened, or calling for more research funding, we recognize that without the voices of survivors, it would be impossible to push for positive change.
Thank you to everyone involved with the LUNGevity Action Network advocacy group, participating in the Project PEER research survey, attending weekly virtual meetup groups, raising awareness at Breathe Deep TOGETHER events, creating community at HOPE Summit, and using their voice to make a difference.
One such advocate we’ve been delighted to meet is Sean Swarner. He spoke at HOPE Summit 2024, and earlier this November he ran seven consecutive marathons to raise awareness and funds for lung cancer.
Donors and Partners
The financial and institutional support we get from individuals, nonprofit organizations, medical centers, and industry partners is a huge reason we’re able to be ambitious and achieve lofty goals. We are grateful that so many of you recognize the importance of our work to transform how people are diagnosed and live with lung cancer.
One of our newest partners is the student-led American Lung Cancer Screening Initiative (ALCSI).

Researchers
The science behind finding and treating lung cancer is rapidly advancing. Survival rates are increasing, and the number of treatment options continues to grow each year. It’s a truly exciting and hopeful time, and we are thankful to the researchers who are making discoveries that help people live longer, fuller lives.
Each year, we spend millions of dollars funding promising and impactful research projects and are proud to have recently announced our 2024 research award recipients.

Medical Staff & Professionals
A special thank you goes out to all the oncologists, primary care providers, nurses, care navigators, and healthcare administrators who care for people with lung cancer. While we work closely with many medical professionals to offer webinars and host expert panels, we know there are many more who are playing important roles in the lives of people impacted by lung cancer.
In September, we hosted the annual International Lung Cancer Survivorship Conference (ILCSC) with the help of medical professionals from around the world. Without them, this event would not have been possible.
Thank you for your involvement with LUNGevity in 2024. We have exciting plans for 2025 and hope you decide to be part of them—sign up for our emails to stay updated.
