Why Patient-Focused Research?

Progress in lung cancer, whether in diagnosis or treatment, is moving forward quickly. However, this progress is not always made with the direct input of the people who are actually living with this disease.

LUNGevity's Patient-Focused Research Center (Patient FoRCe) is a bridge to connect the patient voice with healthcare professionals, regulators, policymakers, and developers of drugs to ensure that voices like yours are heard and incorporated into the decisions that matter most.

Patient FoRCe's Mission

Patient FoRCe is changing how we think about lung cancer by removing assumptions about patient preferences and helping to generate conclusions from directly from patients and caregivers about what they value when it comes to their care.

Our Research Approach

Through numbers (surveys) and stories (focus groups and interviews), LUNGevity's Patient FoRCe team seeks to:

  • Uncover misperceptions about patient and caregiver attitudes toward care, treatment, and support
  • Identify and create awareness about areas of unmet need

Data from our studies, where we invite you, the patients and caregivers in this community, to participate and help us develop LUNGevity programs. Our findings are also used to advocate for improvements in healthcare delivery, policy, treatments, and research that affect people living with lung cancer.

Our projects are uniquely patient-focused and involve multiple stakeholders.
