Sharing personal stories is one of the most powerful tools we have as advocates to influence policy. When you share your lived experience with a policymaker, it makes the issue more real for them and can help them understand the impact of legislation, regulations, and funding decisions.
We invite you to share your or your loved one’s lung cancer story with us so that we can more effectively advocate for you and everyone impacted by lung cancer. We will incorporate these stories into our advocacy with legislators and other policymakers.
What Should You Write About?
When thinking about what aspects of your story to share for advocacy, here are some questions to consider as prompts. Feel free to respond to as many as you wish.
- How and where were you/your loved one diagnosed with lung cancer, and at what stage?
- Did you/your loved one have any difficulty getting diagnosed?
- How long did it take between your/your loved one’s diagnosis and when you/they started treatment?
- Did you/your loved one receive biomarker testing? If so, how did it impact your/their treatment options? If not, did you/they encounter any barriers to receiving biomarker testing?
- Did you/your loved one have to travel far for your/their treatment?
- Did you/your loved one participate in a clinical trial? If so, what was your experience with this process?
- How has your/your loved one’s insurance coverage or lack of coverage impacted your ability to access the care that you/they need? (If you are comfortable doing so, please include what type of insurance you have).
- Has your/your loved one's care been negatively impacted or delayed by insurance practices such as prior authorization, step therapy, or a restriction on covering certain treatments?
By completing this form, you agree that LUNGevity has permission to share your story, but we will not collect any identifying information unless you choose to provide it below. If you would like to provide additional information, this can be helpful in further personalizing your story.
